What Began As a College Final

This idea all came into fruition Fall of 2024 when my GEOL-4900 (Climate Crisis/Solutions) professor assigned our class a final; what local solution could we come up with? The main goal of this project was to brainstorm an idea that could potentially help a local group through the knowledge we gained during the course. Basically what positive changes, ideas, or collaboration are needed to environmentally propel a community.

Salida, Ca

Now time for a local solution. I wanted to help Salida, the community I’ve grown up in my entire life. I first considered what Salida is most notable for, and how the climate may have a direct affect on it. Well the Central Valley is California’s largest agricultural hub with Salida being one of the most prominent contributors. Yet climate change has been leading to irreversible harm and affecting agricultural output, but quality of life as well.

Mission

My goal is to help make the people of Salida be more aware of the water crisis we currently face. Through community outreach, we can help improve the town together through awareness, collaboration, and diligence.
